Prime Day 2026 deals: Important fees, deadlines, and submission tips

It is officially time to start thinking about the biggest shopping event of the year. If you are an Amazon seller, you know that Prime Day can make or break your summer revenue goals. As of March 24, the submission window for Prime Day 2026 deals is officially open, but things look a little different this year.

Amazon has tightened the belt on eligibility and updated its fee structure. If you want to see those Prime Day Deal badges on your products, you need to play by the new rules. Here is a simple breakdown of what you need to know to stay ahead of the game.

New Pricing Rules: No More Fake Discounts

Amazon is getting serious about offering real value to customers. They want to make sure that a deal is actually a deal. To qualify for a Prime Exclusive Discount or a Lightning Deal, your product must meet two strict criteria:

  • The 60-Day Rule: Your deal price must be lower than (or equal to) the lowest price you’ve sold that item for in the last 60 days. This includes any previous coupons or discounts you’ve run.

  • The 30-Day Rule: You must offer at least a 5% discount off the lowest price from the last 30 days.

Essentially, you can’t raise your prices in May just to lower them for Prime Day in July. Amazon’s system will catch it, and your deal will be rejected.

Understanding the Fee Structure

The fee structure for 2026 follows the performance-based model we saw last year. Instead of just paying a flat fee and hoping for the best, the cost is now tied to how well you actually sell.

  1. Upfront Fee: It costs $100 per promotion to get started. However, if you submit your Best Deal or Lightning Deal by April 30, 2026, Amazon will give you a $50 early discount.

  2. Variable Fee: You will also pay 1.5% of your promotional sales. The good news is that this fee is capped at $5,000, so if your product absolutely takes off, your costs won’t spiral out of control.

Don’t Miss the Shipping Deadlines

All the marketing in the world won’t help if your inventory is sitting in a truck outside the warehouse. To ensure your products are “Prime-ready,” mark these dates on your calendar:

  • May 27, 2026: Deadline for AWD shipments and FBA shipments with minimal splits.

  • June 5, 2026: Deadline for Amazon-optimized shipment splits.

The submission window closes on May 26, 2026, so the time to look at your margins and choose your products is right now. Start early, get that discount, and make sure your inventory is in the system before the rush.
